The Smart Team handles global MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) requests of varying sizes on a daily basis. The most popular style of MICE charters we handle include team building incentive days, partner appreciation days, flying key personnel to conferences, VIPS to exclusive top secret forums and important press launches.
Tom Pillings, Aircraft Charter Broker at Smart Aviation said: “We know our commercial jets inside and out, as we do our private jets, and we usually instantly know, depending on group size and specific requirements, which jets will be the most suitable. We source reliable, cost effective solutions to give the client exactly what they need and want.”
Smart’s charter team has used its unrivalled expertise to carefully curate a selection of our most popular aircraft and matched them with their ideal MICE charter purpose.
Best for small MICE groups: Embraer 135
Regional jets tend to have fewer than 100 seats, which is why they are ideal for small MICE groups, staff incentive travel, press trips, and more. The Embraer 135 is our top choice for this type of charter. It has 37 seats so is considered a smaller regional jet and is a shorter version of the Embraer 145, which can accommodate up to 50 people. It has a maximum range of approximately 3,200 kilometres so is able to operate efficiently on short to medium-haul flights. Corporate cabin configurations are also available on this type of jet.
Smart recently used this aircraft to fly a high-profile client and her 13 entourage to an exclusive appointment with a much sought-after jewellery designer in Geneva. The smaller configuration of less seats, provided the guests with increased cabin space, more legroom and headroom. Read more here.
Best for larger MICE groups: Embraer 190
Smart is also a big fan of the Embraer 190, a larger regional jet. With 118 seats, the 190 has a maximum range of approximately 4,400 kilometres, allowing it to serve short to medium-haul routes efficiently. The “double bubble” interior design enables comfortable legroom, passageway width and ceiling height. Smart chartered an Embraer 190 recently for an annual team AGM in Faro, flying 100 staff from Oslo for a golfing incentive retreat.
Best for economical MICE travel: Saab 2000
The Saab 2000’s power, speed, runway capability and rate of climb are unmatched by any other turboprop plane. It is reliable for short and medium length journeys, with a maximum range of 1600 kilometres. 50 passengers can fly in comfort on this economical option which offers the same performance and range as a jet, but for a lower cost and access to more regional airports. We use the Saab 2000 quite often, most notably for a recent press lunch in Scandinavia, where we flew 35 media and staff from London to Oslo.
Best for large meetings, conferences and events: Small narrow-bodied aircraft
The Airbus A319 boasts 150 seats and is the best in its class of smaller narrow-bodied aircraft. It shares a common flight deck design with other A320 family aircraft and has a maximum range of approximately 6,950 kilometres, making it suitable for both short and medium-haul flights. In the summer, we used an A319 to fly sponsors and partners from London to Ibiza to attend an opening night extravaganza at a prestigious venue.
Best for large meetings, conferences and events: Large narrow-bodied aircraft
The Boeing 737-800 is the first option for a large narrow-bodied aircraft as it can accommodate up to 189 passengers. One of the most popular models in the Boeing 737 series, it can fly up to 5,436 kilometres and is designed for short to medium-haul flights, making it a versatile choice for various routes. The B737-800 is widely used by airlines around the world and it is an aircraft we use every month. As leaders in global aircraft charters, we charter several of these aircraft for our UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League teams and fan group bookings.
Best for VIP Events: Boeing 737 VIP
This VIP aircraft configured jet is similar to business class or first class travel cabins but for up to 62 people which is why Smart considers it best for VIP events. The VIP airliner is reconfigured with Business Class seats throughout the cabin and is designed for short to medium-haul flights, making it a versatile choice for various routes. In January 2024, we chartered a Boeing 737 to fly VIP media guests to the World Economic Forum in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.
Another VIP option is the Airbus A321, typically seating 200-220 passengers, however the VIP aircraft is configured to seat 76 in Business Class seats. The maximum range of approximately 5,950 kilometres and we recently used this aircraft to fly 76 employees to a team building exercise in Brussels.
