19 August 2024: The world is still buzzing from the excitement of the Olympic games which finished last week, but our 2024 sporting fix is far from over. In just under two weeks time, on Wednesday, 28th August, we get to immerse ourselves in thrilling sporting triumphs once more as the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games start.
Also known as Games of the Paralympiad, the Paralympics began as a small gathering of British World War II veterans in 1948. Doctor Antonio Maglio originally proposed the game and the 1960 Games in Rome welcomed 400 athletes with disabilities from 23 countries.
Visitors will flock to Paris to witness over 4,400 athletes compete in over 549 events, in 22 disciplines, including basketball, shooting, tennis, football, taekwondo, rowing and much more.

Events at the Paralympics will be held at world renowned venues including Para Equestrian at Château de Versailles, WHeelchair Basketball at Bercy Arena, Para Judo at Champ De Mars Arena, Chateauroux Shooting Centre, Wheelchair Fencing at Grand Palais and more.
