French departure tax increase for private jet flights

News 12 FEBRUARY 2025
French Departure Tax For Private Jet Flights

The French government has recently announced that it is set to significantly increase the departure tax for private jet flights from 1st March 2025.

The increase introduces varying tax rates based on flight destinations and aircraft types and the change will affect all private flights departing from France.

What does the French departure tax increase mean for private jet charter flights?

The departure tax applies to all passengers on all private jet departures from French airports. The tax is calculated and paid by the aircraft operator, with the cost added to the charter price. Aircraft charter operators will be obliged to collect taxes ranging from €210 to €2,100 EUR ($2,200 USD) per passenger from 1 March 2025. Previous rates were €20 per passenger per flight.

As with the UK APD increase, those most affected will be private jet charter clients travelling on long-range jets.

New tax rates from 1 March 2025:

Short range flights within Europe (less than 1,000km)

  • Jet – €420 per passenger
  • Turboprop – €210 per passenger

Mid range international flights (1,000 – 5,500 km)

  • Jet – €1015 per passenger
  • Turboprop – €615 per passenger

Long range international flights (5,500km +)

  • Jet – €2100 per passenger
  • Turboprop – €1025 per passenger

All flights are calculated from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).
