Smart Aviation, the global aircraft charter and ACMI leasing specialist, has successfully brokered a strategic long-term wet lease agreement between LAM – Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique and Windrose Airlines. The ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) deal includes the aircraft and full operating crew.
The six-month lease will see one Airbus A319, operated by Windrose Airlines, temporarily join the LAM – Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique fleet, enhancing its capacity. The aircraft will operate domestic and regional routes across Southern Africa, supporting LAM’s expanding network and growth during the peak season.
Live flights commenced on 8 October 2025, marking the start of Smart Aviation’s first long-term winter lease in Africa.

The deal follows LAM – Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique urgent tender request for five aircraft in August 2025, for which Smart Aviation submitted a tailored leasing proposal. Jamie and members of the Smart Aviation ACMI team will be travelling to Mozambique in the upcoming months to further strengthen client relationships, explore future collaboration opportunities and identify areas where Smart can provide additional support.
