What does a typical day look like for you?
I arrive at the office at 09.05 most mornings after doing the school run. I spend a bit of time catching up on emails before looking at planning ahead – this could be events, email campaigns or content. I have regular catch ups with the team and our partners and try to get out the office when I can – we’re a short train ride away from central London which is handy for meetings.
What do you love about working in aviation?
I love hearing about everything the charter team are working on – the individuals, groups, sports teams and musicians that we fly. We don’t talk about most of what we do due to client confidentiality, which sometimes makes my job quite hard. But there’s always something going on and I find it interesting to know what goes on behind the scenes.
I wouldn’t call myself an aviation geek, but I do like a look at flight radar 24 now and then!
What is the most challenging part of your job?
Connecting with the audience we are trying to reach. It’s a niche industry and our clients are varied and widespread – there is not a typical profile so much of my role is about making connections to raise awareness of our brand and range of services.
What do you do when you are not working?
I love being outside and I’m fully in my gardening era at the moment! I have two children, so I try to spend as much time with them as possible. The flexibility I have at Smart Aviation means I get to drop them up off and pick them up from school every day, something I feel lucky to be able to do.
Where would you be working if you hadn’t chosen aviation?
I would love to be a florist! I worked in a florist part-time during my college days and I absolutely loved it.
